Physician Bio
Dr. Mascarenhas is a fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing in adult reconstruction. His clinical interests include hip and knee pain. He has specialized training in primary hip and knee replacements, partial knee replacements, hip resurfacing, and revision hip and knee replacements, using conventional, computer-assisted, and robotic techniques. He is skilled in anterior and posterior hip approaches and customizes the approach for each patient to provide the best recovery. Dr. Mascarenhas is focused on rapid recovery, short-stay, and outpatient total joint arthroplasty. While attending medical school at the University of Maryland, Dr. Mascarenhas received numerous awards and honors, culminating in the Dean’s Award for Excellence in Clinical and Applied Research for exceptional clinical research performance. After graduating, Dr. Mascarenhas then completed his orthopedic residency at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Jersey where he was recognized Resident of the Year by his peers and faculty during his chief year in 2023. He has since earned a prestigious fellowship in adult reconstruction from the University of Texas, one of the largest and most prolific health systems in the country. Dr. Mascarenhas is originally from Moorestown, NJ, and started volunteering as an EMT while he was still in high school. He continued to serve his community in this role while attending Rutgers University. Passionate about community involvement and charitable work, Dr. Mascarenhas has served as a leader, mentor, missionary, and volunteer throughout his career. Dr. Mascarenhas supports and contributes to Faith in Practice, a non-profit Christian organization that provides medical, dental, and surgical care to Guatemala. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with his fiancée, cooking, reading, hiking, fishing, and traveling.
