John Thomas Marcoux, DPM, FACFAS, is a highly accomplished podiatric physician, surgeon, and educator who has been a leader in podiatric medicine in the greater Boston area for 25+ years. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from the University of Connecticut, he received his Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (D.P.M.) degree from Temple University School of Podiatric Medicine. He subsequently completed his postdoctoral residency training in podiatric medicine and surgery within the UPenn Health System at the Presbyterian Medical Center. During his time in undergraduate studies as a UConn NCAA Division I athlete, Dr. Marcoux was ranked #2 in Ice Hockey, with 2,793 saves over four years as a Huskies goalie and was awarded the Scholar Athlete Award.

Throughout his distinguished career, Dr. Marcoux has established a strong legacy in clinical education and program development. He previously revitalized the podiatric residency program at the Cambridge Health Alliance and went on to build a brand-new, highly respected podiatric residency program from the ground up at St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center. He joined the faculty at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in 2021, where he took over as the Program Director of the Division of Podiatric Surgery residency program in 2024. In addition to his leadership at BIDMC, he holds an academic appointment as an Instructor in the Department of Surgery at Harvard Medical School.

A recognized pioneer in his specialty on the national level, Dr. Marcoux serves as the chair of the Council on Podiatric Medical Education (CPME) and is the past chair of the Residency Review Committee. He is also heavily involved with the American Board of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ABFAS), currently chairing their case review committee and serving on the exam oversight committee. For his expansive contributions to residency training, consumer education, and regional leadership, he was honored with the Distinguished Service Award by the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). Dr. Marcoux is a frequent national lecturer, product design consultant for advanced orthopedic devices, and a prolific author who has edited comprehensive textbooks and published extensively on foot and ankle pathology.

Dr. Marcoux is a widely published author and researcher who has co-edited major surgical textbooks, published numerous peer-reviewed studies, and delivered more than 150 invited lectures and surgical workshops across the country. He is a recipient of the American College of Foot & Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) Distinguished Service Award for his contributions to residency education, research, and patient education.
